Dorothy is an accomplished pianist and music teacher - skilled in one-to-one piano / keyboard tuition, also class teaching including Music Composition, Latin rhythms and Jazz. For over thirty years she has been playing and teaching music professionally.

Here is an online review (May 2020) in Yellow Pages - online:

"Dorothy is a very friendly, patient, and talented musician and teacher. She has worked with our 10-year-old for over three years now. Some of the things that really stand out are that:

1. She is flexible about where lessons take place, and has even made a great success of video calling through the lockdown.

2. She is very much a part of the local music scene, and has arranged for some great opportunities for our son to perform or see live performances.

3. She has found the right balance to keep things moving forward at a pace that suits us and our son, including arranging and preparing for exams".

Dorothy is a composer / songwriter with recordings on SLAM Records. She has played in many jazz groups around the Oxford area including leadership of two jazz-funk groups. In 2020 she had recorded two CDs, one with her own compositions. Dorothy has taught for Jazz Ensemble Classes at Abingdon Music Centre. She has also organised Half-Term Holiday Jazz Courses for semi-professional musicians. She now focuses on teaching piano and keyboard privately.

Dorothy started out by studying classical piano to grade 8 and, at school, music theory to grade 8. She then studied jazz piano on holiday courses. Meanwhile she studied at Berklee College of Music, Boston USA. She was the winner of 3 Performer / Songwriter competitions while there and gained an MA Degree in 1993-4. Dorothy also gained (in 2010-11) a Diploma in Music Education at Rockschool, London.

Former Member of London School of Samba and of Unidos de Back Bay (Samba School in Boston). She spent 3 months in Brazil 1989-90 learning language, music & culture.
