INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING?
Saturday Reading Mastery Classes for Children
Do you have Saturday morning availability (during term time) starting from 10.00am till about midday - to help children Master Literacy?
We currently have a waiting list of children who would like to join our Reading and Writing Improvement (Literacy Mastery) supplementary classes , so we need more volunteers. Might you like to help?
Teaching Experience is not necessary - Tailored training and ongoing support for volunteer classroom teachers and assistants is provided. We use proven effective whole-class teaching methods. If you can commit around two hours on Saturdays during term-time, you can start as a classroom assistant or by observing a few sessions.
Volunteering with us is a wonderful way to gain experience working with and helping children. Our volunteers typically say they find it extremely rewarding.

Example Feedback From Volunteers
Volunteer Feedback: "Volunteering at RDF has taught me so many new things and opened my eyes to the realities of the education gap. Being able to contribute to closing that gap has been such privilege... Improved literacy skills allows the child to have the chance to stay in school as long as possible and perhaps attend competitive secondary schools to give them great opportunities for the future" - May
Volunteer Feedback: "The Roger diamond foundation is a gift to the youth in our community... It gives young children an opportunity to strengthen the foundation of their learning" - Mujaddid
Volunteer Feedback: “Volunteering with RDF has been a really rewarding experience. It has given me the opportunity to work with students and see the impact that personalised support can have on their confidence and learning. The organisation is very supportive and makes it easy for volunteers to contribute in meaningful ways. I would highly recommend getting involved with RDF if you want to help students and make a positive difference in the community” - Odin
Volunteer Feedback: "My experience at the Roger Diamond Foundation has helped me to grow as a person in so many ways. I have learnt invaluably from the team on how to teach and manage children to how to work as a team and organise with others... RDF helps to educate the children of our community through teaching them on literacy, comprehension and writing skills. RDF also helps to support children when it comes to their social skills as many children have blossomed in confidence from attending RDF regularly"
Volunteer Feedback: "RDF has not only done so much to help me but has made such a large impact on the children that attend. From the beginning of my time there until now I have seen children blossom in confidence and their reading and writing skills have improved so much. I'm incredibly grateful to be part of such an amazing team and highly encourage anyone to come along if you're thinking of volunteering" - Sofia.
Other Volunteering Opportunities
We are continually researching, evolving and developing: tailored tuition, classes, workshops, mentoring, training, and other services that effectively support disadvantaged children and their families.
We are expanding our work in and around disadvantaged parts of London - especially North Paddington, Westminster (WCC) and North Kensington (RBKC).
We run classes & projects (in community centres, schools and other suitable spaces) for children aged from about 5 to 11 - during school term time. In 2025 we also ran a short Reading and Writing Mastery project during the Summer Holiday break at The Avenues Youth Project, in Queens Park, Westminster. From January 2026 we hope to further develop creative writing, script-reading and performance in our programme.
We're always on the look out for volunteers, team leaders, consultants, tutors, and new members to help extend our work in disadvantaged communities.
As well as teaching children the fundamentals of mastering literacy, we need dedicated, passionate volunteers to help with teaching maths, Fundraising, Research, Clerical support, Administration, Organising events, Photography, Filming, etc. If any of these opportunities interest you - do get in touch - or select the blue Volunteering Form button towards the end of this page.
