About Us
We are an educational, and research, not-for-profit organisation aimed at providing and promoting projects, tuition and courses for children and young people, so they have better chances for success in education and life in general.
Our current Reading and Writing Literacy Mastery School was founded by parents and residents living in or locally to disadvantaged housing estates where we operate in Westminster and RBKC (i.e. North Kensington).
The Roger Diamond Foundation (RDF) is strictly non-political. Our services are administered by volunteers and our pro bono trustees who have decades of experience providing innovative services for children, parents and young people. We believe in working 'together' with partner individuals and organisations to make an impactful difference.
With continued consultation and ongoing conversations with parents, community leaders, volunteers and education experts, RDF has been promoting, not-for-profit: tuition, classes, discussion groups and other educational services, especially tailored to help children and young people in disadvantaged and challenged communities.
We are based in London and provide services in some of its most disadvantaged communities. We also endeavour to keep up-to-date with relevant research, data, news and facts. We use superb educational solutions and materials to help provide supplementary classes and sessions for children so they can better achieve optimal success.
The Board of Trustees Our Trustees meet about every six weeks. Coordination meetings take place weekly during term time.
Our Founders, Trustees, Consultants and Volunteers include experts in relevant fields, as well as people who live, work or grew up in our target communities. As such, they are well placed to understand those communities. Since 2019 we have been continually consulting parents, guardians, parenting experts, research organisations, educationalists, local community leaders, universities, etcetera.
We are always researching deeper and deeper into the core reasons for the disproportionate percentage of children ending up for example, in Pupil Referral Units (PRU), the Criminal Justice System (CJS), or just not likely to be socially upwardly mobile or entering higher education. We are interested in the best solutions to reduce this. We are also concerned with other worrying social issues occurring in the United Kingdom's most vulnerable communities.
The RDF Literacy Mastery School was Founded By Local Parents for Local Parents!
Volunteer Led: Our experienced, especially trained volunteers are from a range of professional and academic backgrounds. Our volunteers can help your child develop their reading, writing, grammar, comprehension and creative writing, etc.
using structured proven effective teaching methods.
RDF Parents' Feedback:
"My son has definitely improved and sits for longer to do work at home now… Keep on being amazing RDF and keep bringing out the best in the children" - Chantel... "RDF has made a real difference to my children's literacy skills, their reading and spelling has really improved since attending the Saturday classes" - Larry.
The RDF Literacy Mastery School - was founded by local Parents for local Parents. The tuition and all the administration is carried out solely by volunteers. If you register with us - please note: There might be a waiting list for some Reading Age or calendar age levels. This is because we are not currently fully funded.
Tailored Support For over five years, RDF has been promoting tailored one-to-one tuition and support helping disadvantaged families. Classes and 1-to-1 tuition in subjects such as Reading Improvement, Maths, Music theory, Jazz theory or Piano lessons. These have been available in person and via video-call.
Word-of-Mouth Our classes, projects and workshops are mainly promoted by 'word-of-mouth' and local referrals.
Research From time to time we work and converse with professional academic researchers in our search to discover the best educational solutions to social problems in the U.K. We are continually researching to better understand the relevant underlying causes of difficult anti-social issues/problems, such as anti-social teenage gangs and the increasing number of children committing knife/gun crime etc.
Workshops Now and then we hold creative writing workshops for children - in schools, community centres, community festivals, or cultural venues of various kinds.
Public events and productions From time to time we hold public/community events in partnership with other charities or organisations.
Partnerships We partner with other charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs), local council projects and organisations providing services to help children in various disadvantaged areas of London.
