Supplementary Tuition & Classes

The Roger Diamond Foundation (RDF) runs and promotes high quality supplementary classes, tuition and workshops - requested by parents for their children in our local (disadvantaged) communities. Our services feature Saturday Reading and Writing Mastery classes. These classes enable children to become masters of literacy.  Some of our classes include creative writing, poetry, script-reading, performance drama, etc.

Our supplementary classes are provided in our local racially diverse communities. Currently, most of the tuition and all the administration is carried out solely by volunteers. Our Reading & Writing Mastery classes are currently free if your child is eligible for Free School Meals (FSM). Please note: There might be a waiting list for some of the classes.

Mastery of Reading & Writing We run supplementary reading and writing mastery classes and sessions for 5 to 11 year olds on Saturday mornings during term-time. The children learn to read or improve their phonics, grammar, comprehension etc. We use superb instructional text-books and the 'Butterfly Book' for whole-class teaching. The children's reading ages on average increase by over a year in just 18 hours of RDF class tuition.

Drama Workshops From January 2026 we plan to run a special spring term script-reading and drama workshop project.

Piano/Keyboard Tuition Half-priced video-call piano, jazz and music tuition services are available if you are an RDF member and have a keyboard instrument or piano to practise on regularly.

Tailored Support For over five years, RDF has been promoting tailored one-to-one tuition and support helping disadvantaged families. Classes and 1-to-1 tuition in subjects such as Reading Improvement, Maths, Music theory,  Jazz theory or Piano lessons. These have been available in person and via video-call.

Word-of-Mouth Our classes, projects and workshops are mainly promoted by 'word-of-mouth' and local referrals.

Research From time to time we work and converse with professional academic researchers in our search to discover the best educational solutions to social problems in the U.K. We are continually researching to better understand the relevant underlying causes of difficult anti-social issues/problems, such as violent teenage gangs and the increasing number of children committing knife crime etc.

Workshops Now and then we hold second-hand book swaps, reading, music, drama and creative writing workshops etc. These are held in schools, community centres, community festivals, or cultural venues of various kinds.

Public events and productions From time to time we hold public and partnership events. These are often promoted on this website.

Partnerships We partner with other charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs), and community organisations providing services in disadvantaged areas of London. Not all our ongoing behind-the-scenes work is promoted or detailed on this website.
